Cloud Computing May Not Be the Future, But It Is The NOW

Twitter - ChadRothschildlinkedin - Chad Rothschild You may of seen this Larry Ellison video this week.  He was talking about cloud computing and how it was the  technology of the last ten years and is not the future.  In case you did not see it.

Just because it is the present does not mean that people understand it and are utilizing it.  Social Media has been around for a long time, but most people are just catching it.  Seth Godin was talking about Permission Marketing ten years ago.

I was looking for a video that really explained Cloud Computing.  I saw this on Warren Whitlock’s blog and this is cloud computing in plain english.

This one is older, but really explains it very well

It is the now.  So it may be worth looking into.

I attribute Larry’s strong reaction to the fact that “cloud computing” is the flavor du jour, much like “utility computing” was 6-7 years ago. Marketers simply latch on to the next buzzword(s) in order to sell more stuff - cloud computing is a fine example of that - technology companies of all shapes and sizes are jumping on the cloud computing bandwagon. In another 2-3 years it will be something else. It’s one reason I enjoy working in the technology industry - things move so fast and the landscape is constantly changing. Good stuff!
